Natasha Cooke was outstanding again but there was big games from the usual suspects - Sue Hunsley and Sue Green, the goalkeeper Becky Evans and Deb Hearn. But the whole team go from strength to strength.
Sue Hunsley scored first, Lincoln levelled from a fabulous strike and early in the 2nd half they made it 2:1 before Mandy Cook made it 2:2 with a trademark bullet header after Lincoln looked like repeating last seasons result. All that was needed then was a sublime corner kick from Green to make it 2:3 and then running the clock down. Scunthorpe won the cup five times in a row as Lincoln built up their side before the pendulum swung to City and a five year run. So the cycle starts again.
A word about the somewhat weakened Lincoln squad, Lincs FA decreed that no contract players should be allowed which denied games for at least three first team members. In many people's opinion this waters down the event and Lincoln City may well veto next seasons competition.
With three league games left Scunny are 9 unbeaten in all competions and 6 in the league proper. The goals situation is finally looking a little rosier - the defence has been strong for some time and so next season should see further improvements. Three more wins would leave the ironesses on 37 points from 11 wins.
